Quarter 2: Week 1- Comparison and Contrast

In week 1 we do our spelling Quiz 1. We talk about our Anglo-American Literature Icon which is F. Scott Fitzgerald. He is known for his masterpiece. Simile was our figure speech in focus for week 1. A simile is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind using “like” or “as”. We watch a clip titled “Signs”.

In our lesson in week 1, We differentiate the comparison and contrast. Compare finding how things are like and contrast finding how things are different. The activities are quite confusing. I learned that when we are comparing and finding things that are different in text or poems, We should focus on the themes, examine the mood and tone, study the imaginary in both poems, evaluate the language, style, and format. The highlight in our discussion is when our teacher asks if it’s good or bad to compare the two things or people then one of my classmates said that she’s being 50/50 or neutral because it is based. If we compare two people to each other and compare their bad attitude or something bad then it’s bad.
